John Jameson (Earth-9997) Earth X Vol 1 7

John Jameson

The early life of John Jameson largely mirrors that of his Earth-616 counterpart.

John Jameson was the son of publisher J. Jonah Jameson. He became an astronaut and married Kristine Saunders, with the couple having a son together. During a mission, he contracted an extraterrestrial virus which triggered the dormant mutagenic seed within him, causing him to transform into Man-Wolf. At some point John and his wife were coerced into moving to the Moon on a NASA mission.[1]

The Final Host[]

John and his family spent years on the Moon, and John would lock himself outside their habitation at night, when he would transform into the Man-Wolf. When X-51 was transported to the Moon to act as the Watcher's eyes (the Watcher having secretly been blinded by Black Bolt of the Inhumans) his arrival was observed by Jameson.[2][3]

When John and Kristine spotted the arriving Celestials, John was unsuccessful in warning the Earth, and so went to the Watcher's Citadel alone to try and send a warning to Earth. He would arrive at a time when X-51 had just learned the truth about humanity's purpose (to act as unknowing anti-bodies to a Celestial embryo growing at Earth's core). After speaking briefly with Jameson and telling him the whereabouts of his father, X-51 left to warn Reed Richards. Uatu would then manipulate John into believing that the Celestials had mankind's best in mind, and coached him into trying to stop X-51 and Reed Richards from foiling this plot with the Ultimate Nullifier.[1][4]

When Reed and X-51 returned to the Moon to confront Uatu, John put the plan into action. He quickly grew confused, as Reed and X-51 refused to back down, but the exchange was interrupted as his transformation into the Man-Wolf was triggered. X-51 teleported John to a place on Earth where the Sun was up, allowing him to revert to human form.[5]

Following the defeat of the Celestials, Reed Richards built a device for John that absorbed ambient solar energy, allowing him to remain in human form whenever he wished. John was also reunited with his father.[6] While on Earth, Kristine would mutate due to her exposure to the Terrigen Mists and flee with their son. However, the boy would be rescued and taken in by Scott Lang.[7]

Following the death of Death, John Jameson took up residence within one of the many hospitals of the undying when his father, J. Jonah Jameson was attacked and mortally wounded by Mephisto.[8]
