History
While traveling through time to stop S.H.I.E.L.D. from preventing the Chronicom takeover of Earth, two Chronicom Hunters killed and stole the identities of Lilla and John Mackenzie, the parents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie in the original timeline.[1] The Chronicom posing as John and his partner were placed in the holding cells of the Lighthouse when the S.H.I.E.L.D. of the 1970s - unknowingly the pawns of the Chronicoms and Hydra - was to launch the Project Insight satellite. When Mack discovered that his "parents" were prisoners inside the facility, he aborted a mission to prevent the launch by flooding the facility out of fear that he might kill them, opting instead to shoot down the satellite after it launched and revealing the Zephyr's location in the process.[2]
With the satellite destroyed, Mack personally entered the Lighthouse with Agent Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez to rescue his "parents." "John" was damaged during the escape when they were ambushed by the Chronicom Luke, but "John" was able to hide his exposed circuitry from the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Agent Melinda May and General Rick Stoner helped them fight off Luke, allowing the two Chronicoms to leave the facility with Mack, Yo-Yo and May. "John" thanked Agent May for rescuing them once they were on the Quinjet returning to the Zephyr; however, this exposed "John" as a Chronicom when May's recently-acquired empathic abilities did not sense any emotions coming from him. May confronted Mack with the knowledge that his "parents" might be Chronicoms in disguise, and when Mack demanded "John" show him his wound, "John" and "Lilla" attacked. Yo-Yo destroyed the Chronicom impersonating John Mackenzie, while Mack personally threw the Chronicom wearing his mother's face from the Quinjet.[1]Notes
