History

Early Life[]

Prince John was born in England in the 12th century, the youngest son of Henry II. Prince John sought to rebel against the royal administrators of his brother, King Richard the Lionheart, while Richard was away on the Third Crusade..[2]

The Defenders[]

Prince John encountered the Defenders when they were suddenly thrust back to the 12th Century during the Crusades. Aiding the Black Knight against an Arab army, the Defenders faced the formidable Temax. Doctor Strange intervened, rescuing them. The Black Knight, possesing his ancestor's body, exposed Prince John's plot to abandon King Richard. Sworn to thwart Mordred, the Defenders pledged to save the captive king. Disguised, they infiltrated the Arab castle, battling giant gnomes with elemental powers. Simultaneously, Dr. Strange, Hulk, and Namor clashed with Prince John, Mordred, and Chandu. Namor discovered the Gnomes' weakness to water, turning the tide. In the midst of conflict, Prince John seized the Evil Eye from Dr. Strange. Prester John emerged, seizing the device and defeating Prince John and Mordred. As the Black Knight stayed in the Crusades, Prester John transported the Defenders back to their time.[3]

Robin Hood[]

He became the enemy of Robert Locksley, Early Huntingdon better known as the legendary Robin Hood. He was a favorite of his brother and with his allies the Sheriff of Nottingham plotted his downfall. After they returning to England from the Crusades Robin was poisoned by a maid thinking it was medicine, thus ending the life of one of Englands greatest heroes.[2]

Ascension to the Throne[]

Upon the death of his brother Richard in 1199 AD, John was declared the king. The baronial revolt at the end of King John's reign led to the sealing of Magna Carta at Parliament, a document considered an early step in the evolution of the constitution of Britain.[1] The immortal Ulysses Bloodstone was present to witness this[4]
