History
When Alex Power had his first day of school after moving to New York, he immediately had a conflict with Johnny Rival. Johnny had a habit of stirring up Alex's insecurities. Also, Johnny had an interest in Allison McCourt but Allison clearly preferred Alex over Johnny. At one time, Johnny became convinced that Alex was a mutant. Johnny acquired a gun and was going to turn Alex in to the authorities but instead, Johnny and Alex got entangled in a fight between Spiderman and the Hobgoblin. After that Johnny and Alex were friends until later when Alex prevented Johnny from being gunned down by the police along with Johnny's brother Raphael. Despite saving Johnny's life, Johnny thought Alex had prevented Johnny from saving Raphael's life. Johnny still holds bitterness toward Alex about this.
