History
Johnny Blaze was the former Ghost Rider. No longer hosting a Spirit of Vengeance, he nevertheless retained some fire-related powers. Johnny had fully withdrawn from superhero life, after the death of Roxanne Simpson he was only concerned with his people at the Quentin Carnival. Rumored to be dead, Blaze was also secretly in possession of the Parchment of Power, historically entrusted to Spirits of Vengeance for safekeeping.[1]
Iron Man and Doctor Strange approached Blaze at Roxanne's grave, but he was not happy to see them. Strange explained that the Prophecy of the Midnight Sun is nearing and asked for Blaze's help. Johnny refused, angry about how things turned out the last time he helped Strange. A Soulless appeared behind Iron Man and Doctor Strange, and Blaze blasted it with his flaming shotgun before riding off on his motorcycle.[1]
Blaze was unable to sit at the sides, as the Quentin Carnival was attacked by the Army of Lilith who were after the Parchment in his possession. Sabretooth and Crossbones were searching for the Parchment, but Sabretooth relished the opportunity to kill, focusing more on that than their mission. Just as he is about to claim his next victim, Blaze appeared with a flaming shotgun, and blasted Sabretooth away. Blaze blasted more Lilin when a Nest Mother appeared. Lilith spoke through the Nest Mother and told Blaze to surrender the page. The Hunter and Wolverine arrived on scene, and blamed the attack on them. Johnny then left Hunter and Wolverine to deal with the Nest Mother and the other Lilin while he went to rescue innocents that have been caught up in the attack. He came under attack from Sabretooth, but Wolverine leapt in to save him. Hunter and Blaze argued about the stopping the Prophecy of the Midnight Sun, and Blaze rode off.[1]
Blaze on his motorcycle was chased by Hydra vehicles carrying troops led by Crossbones and Sabretooth. Blaze leapt over the Copperhead Canyon to shake the pursuit, but glowing green chains from below latching onto Blaze and pulled him down. He was tied to a rock, but broke free when Hunter and Robbie Reyes arrived in the Hell Ride. Hunter demanded that Blaze turn over the Parchment of Power, but a horde of Soulless surrounded them. Johnny claimed that he did not know whom they served, but it was not Lilith or Chthon. Blaze pulled out the Parchment and began reading from it, casting a powerful spell that filled the area with fire. As the flames faded, Blaze hopped on his motorcycle and sped off, saying that he'd be in touch.[1]
Blaze contacted the Midnight Suns through the Mirror Table and asked to meet. Hunter and Ghost Rider found Blaze in front of a church, and he told them that he had a plan. He summoned the Parchment of Power from his chest and put it inside Robbie's. Blaze leads the two inside the church, but as they walked through the door, they were suddenly transported to Limbo instead. Seated on a throne, Mephisto greeted them as they arrived. Blaze explained that he made a deal to leave Hunter in Limbo so that the prophecy could not come to pass and tried to get Ghost Rider to leave with him, but Robbie refused. Mephisto told Blaze that the deal only guaranteed safe passage for him, and teleported him away, leaving Hunter and Ghost Rider behind.[1]
Tony Stark planned to destroy the Parchment with the Gamma Cannon at the Los Diablos Missile Base. Robbie Reyes headed there, and Johnny Blaze followed them from behind. Blaze blasted the Lilin with his shotgun to save Robbie, and then took the Parchment of Power back. He jumps on his motorcycle into the path of the Gamma Cannon, sacrificing himself in an attempt to destroy the page and reunite with Roxx.[1]Paraphernalia
