History

Joseph "Robbie" Robertson was Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Bugle, the newspaper at which Peter Parker worked and sold his photographs of Spider-Man.

Unlike the Bugle's volatile Publisher, J. Jonah Jameson, Robbie tried his best to remain objective towards Spider-Man instead of automatically assuming he was a criminal.

Joseph Robertson was married to Martha, and his son Randy "Rand" Robertson attended Midtown High School with Peter Parker.

At one point, he surreptitiously approved Ned Lee's idea of investigating Spider-Man's secret identity, even though Jameson felt this would make him an "average Joe" and thus less interesting to the readers.

Robbie Robertson later allowed Ned Lee to pursue a similar investigation into the Green Goblin.
