Tales of Suspense #7
In 1975 Martians will only do business with those aliens intelligent enough to figure out their maze and so some eggheads from Earth attempt to enter the maze and exit through the far door. They find that they cannot, and postulate complex theories as to why they failed, like the far door resides in another dimension. The ship steward offers to give it a go, and the eggheads reluctantly agree, thinking he will certainly fail when their superior minds could not figure it out. The steward realizes that it is a treadmill that moves backwards at exactly the same speed the occupant attempts to move forward that prevents one from reaching the opposite door, and thus the Martians agree to trade and the steward becomes the ambassador to Mars.
