History
Lopez was a descendant of a man who had marched with Hernando de Estrada in an expedition. Lopez's grandfather had told Lopez of a legend about how a supernatural evil had been buried in a local Indian burial mound, and ever since Lopez took a detour to not walk close to it. Although Lopez had sworn to never reveal the details to a stranger, he warned Texan Steve Brill to not try to dig it up; Brill convinced Lopez to write the details of the curse, so as to communicate them to Brill without really telling, but while he did, Brill opened the burial mound and unleashed a vampire, Don Santiago de Valdez, who killed Lopez to feed.[1]
