Origin

Judas Iscariot was one of Jesus Christ's disciples. He is remembered for one thing: his betrayal of Jesus Christ for 30 pieces of silver. He later hanged himself from guilt over his actions.[1]

Legacy

Even though Judas showed remorse,[1] his name became a symbol for traitors and turncoats throughout history: The slur "Judas" is used to describe someone as a traitor.[2]
