History
Julien was the heir to the New Orleans Assassins Guild. At war for generations with the Thieves Guild, Julien opposed the peace his sister's marriage to Remy LeBeau would have brought between the two. Challenging Remy to a duel, the battle was largely in Julien's favour until Remy's mutant abilities surfaced, causing a knife he threw at Julien to detonate, killing him. The death caused Remy to be exiled from the city, but Julien did not stay gone for long.[1]
Under unknown circumstances, Julien was revived by Candra's elixir of life,[2] and vowed death upon the Thieves Guild. He served the Brood in their scheme to implant Brood embryos into the Assassins Guild and stealing the children of the New Orleans guilds. Julien began killing members of the Thieves Guild, which he claimed was a part of the scheme, but he admitted it was part of his personal vendetta.[3] This scheme brought the attention of the X-Men as well as Ghost Rider. After a prolonged battle which ended with the Brood defeated, his sister Bella Donna comatose, and the children saved, Julien got away, vowing to have his vengeance along with his "family".[4]
The Tithing Time[]
Julien gathered a group of allies among the two New Orleans guilds around his ideal that the old system - where the two guilds served Candra, their immortal benefactress, for two non-overlapping sets of uncanny gifts, while fighting each other - could be wiped away, in favor of a new system, where a unified guild under Julien had access to the gifts of both guilds.[5][6] When the Tithe Collector came to New Orleans to perform the ritual bestowing the gifts of Candra, Julien and his followers struck, robbing the Tithe Collector and savaging anyone who got in their way - even his own father.[5] Drawn back to town by his plan to use the elixir to revive Bella Donna, Gambit tracked him down, and discovered a secret - Julien had suffered a rare adverse reaction to the elixir, and would soon die.[2] The caper climaxed with Julien swordfighting Gambit by the bed where Bella Donna lay, but the fight so engrossed him that he was vulnerable to a crossbow attack by Marius, who disowned his dying son as a traitor.[2]Attributes
