History

Pre-Cataclysm Age and early years

Kaa-U was a barbarous land in the Pre-Cataclysmic Age.

It was also (or later became known as) the Lost City of Shuma-Gorath, Kaa-U the Accursed, an ancient sunken city, then a region in Asia, presumably located somewhere in present-day Tibet, that is best known as the location of the Crypts in which the bodies of both deceased Ancient Ones and deceased Sorcerer Supremes of the Earth continuum, including the Ancient One who was the mentor of Doctor Strange, are buried after their deaths.

Modern Age

In the Modern Age, the Shadowmen of Kaa-U served Shuma-Gorath, the Dread Lord of the Primal World.

Notes

• Kaa-U was created by Robert E. Howard in "The Shadow Kingom".
  • In its Marvel Comics adaptation, it was probably inspired by the likes of Atlantis, Lemuria, and the Cthulhu Mythos cities such as R'lyeh, as an lost and evil city from the past inhabited by minions serving an eldritch horror.
