History

Kalen was grandson of Kamuu and the original wearers of the Sacred Armor of Atlantis. He later left Atlantis, undertaking an undisclosed sojourn.

In 5800 BC, at least 30 years after the death of Kamuu, Atlantis was plagued by the savage Faceless Ones. Suma-Ket led the Unforgiven Dead to Atlantis, freeing the city from the Faceless Ones in exchange for being allowed to settle there.

The people were impressed with Suma-Ket and followed his lead to slay their King Harran and proclaim Suma-Ket as the new ruler. It was under Suma-Ket's rule that Atlantis sank into darkness, worshiping the demonic Old Ones. Kalen after years of travel returned to his homeland and was shocked with his people's plight. He pleaded with his people to return to the old way of worshiping Neptune. Kalen slew one of Suma-Ket's tribe women as she prepared to sacrifice a child to her evil gods. This act rallied the people against Ket and Artys-Gran.

The god Neptune along with Kalen led the Atlanteans in battle that turned the oceans red with blood. Suma-Ket's host was defeated, but the Unforgiven Dead were to strong and could not be easily be destroyed. The leaders of the city banished Ket and his court to the Grey Waters, a lifeless dimension with no time or change.

Artys-Gran, last of the Unforgiven Dead, was slain and her body hidden. In this way, Suma-Ket's covenant with his dark gods was broken. As Suma-Ket fell, he swore that he would one day return when the blood of his people possessed the blood of Kalen. Kalen became the new king, founding the Royal line, from which Thakorr and Namor the Sub-Mariner would be descended.

When Namor was nearly killed by reborn Suma-Ket, Neptune appears gives him the Sacred Armor of Atlantis, healing him enough to continue the battle. Namor wore the Armor to defeat many of Suma-Ket's host and ultimately to slay Suma-Ket himself.[1]
