History
Ms. Marvel seemingly had a similar history as her Earth-616 counterpart. She and Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) found that a group Skrull Antagonists had created a rift in the space-time continuum. During the battle, Carol took a shot meant for Kamala and in her dying breath, bestowed the mantle of Captain Marvel to Kamala.
Captain Marvel closed the rift, but not before a time-displaced Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) stepped out. While he was thankful she continued his legacy, he expressed his disapproval of a woman Captain Marvel. She agreed and decided to stop fighting for social justice, even changing her alias from Ms. Marvel to Miss Marvel since the former was considered pretentious.[1]Paraphernalia
