Kanan was friends with Reban. Reban was killed and replaced by Volx the Dire Wraith Queen. Kanan discovered his friend was an imposter when he and Volx were returning Richard Rider to Earth after he had been depowered. Upon discovery of Volx's imposture Volx killed Kanan.[1]
