History
In the far future of Earth-6160, the warrior Kang assembled a genetically engineered army that consisted mostly of clones which were turned into super-soldiers modelled after Thor, Captain America, Giant-Man, the Wasp and the Vision. Kang sent this army to present-day Latveria in an assassination attempt on the Maker. The soldiers were engaged by a cabal of world leaders that were the Maker's allies, and the army was eventually subdued. Tracking down their DNA to their present-day ancestors, the Maker killed them to cause the future soldiers to cease to exist.[1]
Back in the future, Kang amassed a larger army composed of different genetic material.[1] In the present, the Maker sought the assistance of the brilliant inventor Howard Stark to replace his broken time machine, the Immortus Engine. Stark and his associate Reed Richards decided to betray the Maker. While Stark was delivering the second Immortus Engine to the Maker, Richards infiltrated the mainframe of the Maker's headquarters, the City, and temporarily disabled its temporal shields. This allowed Kang and his army to launch an attack within the Maker's domain, but also trapped them inside the City. Kang and the Maker engaged in a battle until Stark intervened, empowered by the second Immortus Engine. He used it to blast the Maker and Kang, as well as both of their armies, which seemingly killed the combatants.[2]Notes
- In Ultimate Invasion #3, one of Kang's soldiers mentions that the original strike force sent after the Maker resulted from four thousand years of genetic engineering, and that the second batch was made with six thousand years, but it's not clear if the second number is cumulative or additional.
