When a plague turned the world's population into cannibals, Sauron was among the many supervillians that succumbed to it. He aided the infected Hulk in a battle against a group of heroes on the Goethals Bridge, who were trying to buy time for their scientists to escape. During the battle, he was set on fire by the Human Torch but managed to survive.[1]

He was later seen attacking a safety camp housing twenty thousand uninfected New Yorkers and a third of the medical team. The Punisher, Hawkeye and Iron Man intervened but Sauron survived again.[2]

Following a turf war, the King of Death strengthened his tribe by destroying others and forcing them to join him, Sauron included. As he grew more powerful and took more land, the King of Death decided to take Manhattan from Patient Zero. However, the pressure they put on Patient Zero forced him to call on the Punisher for help. After making an agreement, Frank journeyed into the King of Death's territory, where he encountered him and his men.[3]

Frank attempted to escape with a flash grenade, but Sauron pounced on him. When Frank tried to stab him with a knife, Sauron kicked him into a wall, knocking him unconscious. The King of Death restrained the Punisher and tried multiple methods of torture. Sauron aided in the torture by stabbing Frank in the chest. However, the Punisher eventually broke free and gunned everyone down, including Sauron.[4]

Seemingly those of the Karl Lykos of Earth-616.

Due to his exposure to Survivor 118, Sauron was capable of adapting to extreme changes in his environment.
