History
Kaylo was a member of the Unparalleled,[1] a group of protectors of the planet Spyre who subjected themselves to cosmic rays on behalf of their patriarch, the Overseer.[2] This plan to create a group of superpowered individuals came to be after four explorers from Earth attempted to reach Spyre but they had their rocket ship scuttled by a cosmic ray storm that gave them powers, becoming the Fantastic Four. Despite the explorer's attempt failing, Overseer dreaded the threat they could pose if they were to resume their original mission now that they had powers,[3] so he created a team to combat the Fantastic Four, expecting their arrival. Kaylo was part of the Unparalleled along with her wife, Kor. Both had been rechristened after the eponymous stars in the binary system their planet orbited.[1]
Over a decade after their initial and failed attempt to reach Spyre, the Fantastic Four sought to complete their original mission.[4] When they approached Spyre, the Overseer warned the Unparalleled of their arrival. The team intercepted the explorers and subdued them, but the Fantastic Four managed to establish that they meant no harm.[1] However, when Mister Fantastic deduced that the Overseer had been secretly responsible for tampering the intensity of the cosmic ray storm that bestowed the Fantastic Four their powers, the Overseer ordered the Unparalleled to kill the visitors. Kor and Kaylo gave chase to Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman,[2] but they managed to evade them by becoming invisible.
Kaylo and Kor were then deployed to the streets of Hightown to defuse a rebellion from the Monster Mob, the outcasts of Spyre who had been banished from society due to the Overseer's cosmic ray exposure turning them into monsters.[3] Once Mister Fantastic exposed the Overseer's secret role in the creation of the Fantastic Four, making him responsible for the very threat the Spyricans feared, The Thing confronted the Overseer at the Tower of Over-Site, causing its collapse. The Unparalleled, the Monster Mob and the Fantastic Four joined forces to contain the falling debris.[5] After the Unparalleled and the Fantastic Four made peace, Mister Fantastic shared with the Spyricans a cure to temporary revert cosmic ray mutates back to normal, which helped welcome the Monster Mob back into society. Later, the Unparalleled bid the Fantastic Four farewell as they prepared to return to Earth accompanied by Unparalleled member Sky.[6]Attributes
Powers
- Fire Generation and Manipulation: Powered by one of Spyre's stars, Kaylo possesses the ability to manipulate fire. She is capable of shooting blasts of fire and releasing streams of it.[1]
- Heat Detection: She can also detect body heat signatures with her abilities.[1]
- Flight: Kaylo also possesses the ability to fly on her own.[1]
- Superhuman Strength: Kaylo has displayed a degree of superhuman strength, using her own body to help stop a train.[1]
