Kid Colt happens upon a man named Ted Stewart who is a man on the run. Thinking that the Kid is part of the posse after him, he draws on Colt, but the Kid is faster with his fists and easily bowls him over. As Stewart recovers, Kid Colt tells him to take cover, but Ted does not heed his warning. With his lightning fast reflexes, Kid Colt shoots a rattle snake that was about to strike Ted. The shots attract the posse out looking for Ted, who knocks out Kid Colt and flees the scene. When the posse arrives, Sheriff Crowley of Twin Fork and learn that Stewart is wanted for murder. When Kid Colt tells them that Ted, a member of the posse named Dressen, is insistent that they capture him, suggesting that Kid Colt helped Ted escape almost leading to a fight, until the sheriff breaks things up. When the posse follows after Ted, Kid Colt suspects that there is something not right when he sees Dressen break off from the rest of the group and heads in a different direction.

Using his tracking skills, Kid Colt manages to track down Ted Stewart first, when the young man draws on Kid Colt again the outlaw hero easily shoots the guns out of his hands and demands that he explain what is going on. Ted tells Kid Colt that he was accused of murdering Fred Chaney, explaining that he after the two had a fight Ted stumbled upon his dead body in his home the day after when he went to go and apologize. In a panic, Ted had fled thus leading to the posse chasing him down as the most likely suspect. Kid Colt convinces Ted that there might be some way to get out of his bind when suddenly Dressen gets the drop on them.

Realizing that Dressen must be involved some how, Kid Colt starts pressuring him to talk. In a panic, Dressen begins to inch back unaware that he is backing up to the edge of a cliff. When he tries to shoot Kid Colt, the Kid quickly dodges the bullet and fires his own gun. Although the Kid misses, it throws Dressen off balance and he fell over the edge, knocking him out. When the posse arrives at the scene, they find that Dressen's shirt is wide open, revealing a hidden belt stuffed with money with Fred Chaney's name on it. The sheriff realizes that Dressen murdered Fred to steal the money and framed Ted in order to get away with it. With Dressen in custody, Ted thanks Kid Colt for his help.
