Synopsis for "Sheep Run"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Two-Gun Kid #27
(originally printed as Rodeo!)

On his way to the town of Gunville, the Two-Gun Kid comes across a pair of men fighting it out and knocks them out. Bringing them into town the sheriff identifies them as Roy Ferris and Chuck Nevers, both members of an outlaw gang that hide out in Sioux Peak. The Kid gets up to speed with local events quickly: There is a rodeo in town, a young woman named Dory is in love with Roy, and another local named Lee Marcy seeks to replace the sheriff as he believes he is fit for the job and can deal with the outlaws outside of town. Dory confides in the Two-Gun Kid, telling him that Roy was going straight and was attempting to win the rodeo so they had enough money to get married and buy their own land. The Two-Gun Kid then tells Dory that he will enter the rodeo in Roy's place and win the money for them.

Chuck is locked up in the local jail while Roy is put under the care of the local doctor. Soon the Two-Gun Kid wins the rodeo, but before he can collect the money, the gang from Sioux Peak and their masked leader free Chuck and then rob the box office money. The Two-Gun Kid helps the sheriff and his posse round up the gang and recover the money but their leader gets away. Rushing to the doctors office, the Kid catches the leader of the gang holding Dory and Roy at gunpoint. Caught by surprise, the leader of the gang tries to flee by jumping out a window, but the Two-Gun Kid tackles him and reveals their leader to be none other than Lee Marcy.
