Synopsis for "Meeting at Midnight!"
The Black Rider was watching over the town of Leadville and shots were heard. He found the shooter fleeing in a dark side street. The stranger tried to shoot the Rider, but failed. Then, he went to Morgan's wood to avoid th Black Rider.The Rider lost the stranger in the pursuit. As, he returned to to the tow, he talk with Mr. Webster, one of the neighbors, who told him that he had heard the shootings, as the Matson family did across the street.
In the morning, the Rider changed back to his identity as Doc Masters and pondered the strange incident in his office. Suddenly someone called, Mr Warren,who had an arm injured. Warren said that he had an accident when he was cleaning a gun. Doc Masters was immediately suspicious, because Mr. Warren lived in the street where the shooting happened. Doc Masters quickly attended his patient and decided to investigate the incident. In the night, the Black Rider observed Warren providing money to a man named Carver, who was blackmailing him. Carver threatened Warren to not slap leather of him if he didn't wanted more that a flesh wound. Carver ordered for another meeting the next night, or he would spread the word of Warren had been two years in jail.
Doc Masters returned to his public identity and went to attend Warren. Doc sliped a sedative in Warren drink, so he would sleep. The Black Rider went to the appointment with the blackmailer, who began to shoot the Rider, thinking that he was Warren. A gun fight ensued and Carver tried to escape across a slippery cliff. Carver finally fell to his death. Later in the night, the Black Rider wrote a letter for a sleepy Warren, telling him that his opressor was no more and his secret was safe.

- This is the last story published in the USA for Black Rider until 2006, with Marvel Westerns: Strange Westerns Starring the Black Rider #1. Publishing of the character had continued already by the Brazilian licensor RGE with Black Rider (BR) #79 that had a successful run of 245 issues, 15 annuals and 2 specials. An unpublished American story of Black Rider resurfaced in 1960 in Australia in The Fast Gun Vol 1 9.
