Synopsis for 1st story
Hunting for Dylan Brock, the Lasher, Agony, Riot, and Phage symbiotes extract a newly-orphaned small child from a crashed car. Annoyed that the child isn't their quarry, they decide to eat him but are accosted by Andi Benton - host to the Scream symbiote. As Andi mentally declares her intent to protect Dylan Brock from the symbiotes hunting him, Scream coils her hair-tendrils around Lasher's neck and throws it into Agony and Riot. Mocking their estranged sibling for having sided with the humans, the four corrupted symbiotes amalgamate into the Hybrid symbiote. Speaking through Hybrid, Knull addresses Scream and tells her to rejoin the Symbiote Hive; but she mocks him for hiding behind his children and sneers that she knew it was only a matter of time before he arrived on Earth. The Scream symbiote tells Andi to use her Hell-Mark to conjure hellfire, Scream obliging as she snarls that she'll never join Knull. The mystical flames engulf Hybrid, who screams in pain and rage before restraining Scream with fang-lined tendrils and slamming her into the car. Knull boasts that he has travelled across the cosmos bringing the darkness of the primordial void with him, noting that Scream's host has a darkness inside her but that Earth has made Scream and the other symbiotes that dwell upon it weak. As Hybrid looms over Scream and licks her face, Knull snarls that humanity will be devoured - starting with Scream's host - and that the Scream symbiote will be subsumed by the Hive. Engulfing Scream, Hybrid attempts to assimilate her but is torn apart and immolated as she unleashes an omnidirectional blast of hellfire from inside it; the Scream symbiote monologing that it and Andi will use the eternally-burning fires of Hell to immolate Knull and reduce his darkness to ash.
As Scream stands in the centre of a scorched crater, her symbiote suggests they take the fight directly to Knull after they take care of the orphaned child, who is cowering behind his parents' now flipped-over car. Retracting the Scream symbiote from her face, Andi introduces herself to the boy - whose name is Danny - and offers to take him somewhere safe. Unbeknownst to her, the Hybrid symbiote reforms and oozes into the sewers.

Synopsis for 2nd story
Patrolling the yard of the Ravencroft Institute, a couple of J.A.N.U.S. Society guards discuss how John Jameson's tenure as warden is shaping up compared to interim warden Wilson Fisk's. Abruptly, symbiote dragons swoop overhead and one of the guards, Bob - actually a mole for the Cult of Knull - dashes into the building, leaving his colleague to be devoured. Making his way through the secret basement as tendrils of living abyss burst through the walls, Bob runs into the chamber that had once housed the Unwanted and opens the hidden doorway to the tomb of Cortland Kasady; all the while excitedly proclaiming that their god has finally come. Inside the tomb, Bob finds an avatar of Knull manifested from the symbiote dragon's living abyss looming over Cortland's now-open sarcophagus and desiccated corpse. Kneeling, Bob pledges fealty to the King in Black and explains that he came to retrieve Cortland's corpse so the cult could resurrect him. Saying there's no need, Knull's avatar asks if Bob knows who Cortland Kasady was, and Bob nervously replies that he was the New World's first serial killer. Knull's avatar retorts that Cortland Kasady was so much more than that, and that in all his eons of existence he had never before seen a more devout worshipper willing to spread the gospel of death and destruction. Vomiting a torrent of living abyss onto Cortland's corpse, Knull reanimates him as he once did his descendant Cletus Kasady; dubbing Cortland - now clad in a purple-and-black symbiote - "Plague". Merging his avatar into Cortland's symbiote, Knull says his attention is needed elsewhere but asks Bob what he is prepared to offer their cause, Bob replying everything. In response, Plague sucks Bob's life-force out of his mouth and consumes it, leaving him a desiccated husk.
Declaring that it's good to be back, Plague finds himself held at gunpoint by a group of other guards and consumes their life energy as well, gloating that they were tasty and that he's going to enjoy the modern world. Slashed across the back, Plague turns to see John Jameson in his Man-Wolf form, who recognizes him as Cortland Kasady but is confused as to how. Starting to drain Man-Wolf's lifeforce, Plague retorts that he knows who Jameson is too through his former connection to the Symbiote Hive, and that he's going to make Jameson suffer for his betrayal. Misty Knight punches Plague in the back of the head with her metal arm, Plague commenting that the modern world is truly an amazing place before beginning to drain her life force as well. As more guards arrive and aim their weapons at him, Plague remarks that he wishes he could stay and consume them all, but that Knull demands his presence elsewhere and he wants to avenge his bloodline by killing Eddie Brock. As Plague teleports away, Misty grumbles that she hates the Ravencroft Institute, Man-Wolf telling her they need to notify their superiors at the A.C.D.
