Synopsis for "It's All Dangerous"
In the Lincoln Tunnel, a humanoid Brood rampages as an Alchemax security team attempts to get it back into containment. Watching from the ceiling of the tunnel, Toxin mentally remarks to its new host, Bren Waters, that there are better things he could be doing with his time. Bren mentally chastises the symbiote, saying he thought it would be excited to get out, but Toxin responds that it's happy to just be alive - having been so severely weakened that not even Knull thought it was worth revitalizing it during his attack on Earth. As Toxin adds that Bren saved it and restored it to full health, Bren says they should do something to protect the people from the rampaging alien monster. Sarcastically replying that it's hard to hear its conscience over the sound of the gunfire, Toxin asks if Bren is ready and leaps into battle - Bren telling it to end the fight quickly as people are in danger. Toxin's mental retort is cut off as the Brood backhands them away, telling Bren to let it do the talking. Speaking out loud, Toxin lashes out with tendrils, commenting on how humans stuffed full of delicious organs and wondering what the Brood's will taste like. Slammed into a wall and pinned by Toxin's tendrils, the Brood tells Toxin to go ahead, adding that Alchemax has done worse. As Toxin pauses and incredulously asks what the Brood means, Bren notes the Brood isn't speaking aloud but that they can taste his words; the symbiote explaining that the Brood is using pheromones to communicate. Towering over Toxin, the humanoid Brood explains that he used to be human before Alchemax subjected him to months of cruel and unethical experiments. Toxin remarks to Bren that they're fighting the wrong people, a new voice condescendingly asking if Toxin calls that a fight.
Toxin is abruptly punched in the face by a man in green powered armor, who introduces himself as Guardsman and that his suit was built by Alchemax to combat symbiotes. Snarling that all they see is canned meat, Toxin lunges at Guardsman - ignoring Bren asking the symbiote if it's sure they can back the tough talk up. Retorting that Knull's invasion hit humanity hard but that New York hits back harder, Guardsman punches Toxin into the ground hard enough to crater the pavement. Picking themselves up, Toxin sneers that Guardsman is just a little green man; Guardsman retaliating by firing a massive blast of energy from his gauntlets. As the NYPD approach and tell Guardsman the Brood/human hybrid has been subdued, a cop peers into the smoking crater and wonders where Toxin went; Guardsman grousing that he's gone for now.
As Toxin web-swings over the city, the symbiote angrily remarks that while Alchemax has wanted to weaponize symbiotes for years, stuffing humans full of alien guts is a new low. Bren remarks that the Guardsman almost killed them, asking the Toxin symbiote to be more careful; but the symbiote is furious at having left the Brood/human hybrid to be recaptured by Alchemax. As they arrive at Bren's house and climb into his bedroom window, Toxin tells Bren it's not letting the subject drop, but Bren insists they had to escape to avoid being killed by the Guardsman. Scoffing as it retracts into Bren's body, Toxin mockingly asks if his father would get mad at him for fighting. Bren - a scrawny teenage boy - retorts that he doesn't even have his learner's permit and has never been in a fight before, but that if his dad found out he'd be proud of him. Toxin sarcastically states that Bren's dad doesn't hold a candle to its own messed-up family; Bren retorting that Toxin hasn't shut up about it since they met. Hearing the door slam, Bren worries that they were followed, Toxin sarcastically remarking that it's hurt by him calling it a "malignant passenger". As Bren laments that he told it to give him an adult-looking appearance, Toxin retorts that it's only ever been bonded to adults and gave him a mixture of Patrick Mulligan and Eddie Brock's forms. Examining his reflection, Bren tells the symbiote to shut up and get in his pocket, Toxin retorting that it's shape-shifted into his clothes and Bren threatening to take a lighter to it. Bren's father calls out to let him know he's home from work, and Bren remarks he's back early. Bren's father - the Guardsman who Toxin had fought earlier - says he earned it and feels like he fit sixteen hours into six, having had a hell of a day.
