History

Kite was one half of the cyborg Charnel, which was thrown back in time into the distant past of Earth-616 when Charnel was destroyed. His history is largely unknown; it is known that he had been roaming middle America since at least 1831.

In the modern era, Kite was one of many superhumans who found themselves drawn to the energy of the Sapphire Lotus in Oregon, which led him into conflict with Death's Head. This incident apparently brought him to the attention of Dr. Evelyn Necker who, not realising his true origin, believed he was a mutant and would make an excellent base body for a new model of Minion cyborg.

Captured by Necker, Kite was forcibly bonded with the cybernetic armor, but broke free soon after. Using Necker's time device, he located the other half of Charnel, who had been stranded in the distant future. The two made physical contact, reforming into Charnel.
