History

Knull's history presumably mirrors that of his Earth-616 counterpart's up to his invasion of Earth in order to get revenge on Eddie Brock and corrupt Dylan Brock into his apostle. Knull faced off against a group of heroes while searching Manhattan. Before he could fight them, however, he was attacked by Carnage from Earth-616, who sought to kill him to usurp his throne as the King in Black.

While Carnage and Knull proved evenly matched, the interference of Agent Venom's Symbiote Squad—who were trying to save the King in Black—distracted Knull, enabling Carnage to impale him with All-Blood. Carnage subsequently assimilated Knull's symbiote and consumed his body, obtaining his power in the process.

• According to a Q&A on his Discord channel, Cullen Bunn originally planned to have Carnage fight a Venomized version of the Phoenix, but was mandated to use Knull by Marvel's editorial.
