History
Kodatha, the Monkey God, was allegedly a creature from the dark times before Man. He was perceived in Atlantis as a figure of death. In Valusia, he was known only as the Monkey God, and was their god of mischief. They honored him by celebrating each year, during the hottest weeks of summer, the Festival of the Monkey, a five-night party.
During the Festival, Atlantean-born King Kull of Valusia grew tired of the festivities and went for a walk in the streets. He and his men stumbled into the bleeding of a woman by hooded figures. Pursuing, they went into the sewers (who served a city that stood long before Valusia), where they were attacked by cultists of Kodatha. Advancing, they stumbled into a ritual that summoned Kodatha himself. Kull charged the monster and with Alecto managed to slay it. Kull then had the surviving cultists rounded up and brought back to the palace, where Kull also interrupted the celebration by tossing Kodatha's decapitated head among the revelers.[1]
One night, monkey-masked worshipers of Kodaha decided to infiltrate the palace and assassinate Kull for having slain their god. That same night, the followers of the Keeper of the Laws, and the Cult of Ohris Dehjmal (both having been killed by Kull) also decided to do so. As Dehjmal's and the Keeper of the Laws' followers united after a short skirmish, they were attacked at Kull's door by the worshipers of Kodatha who had already dispatched the guards. Only a single worshiper of Kodatha survived the brawl and, heading to Kull's bed, stumbled on a shoe and broke his head on a chest a few feet from Kull, unaware of the events of the night.[2]See Also
