History
Xorn was a prisoner of the U-Men when he was freed by Cyclops to help him, Emma Frost, and Wolverine rescue Jean Grey, who had been transformed into a Phoenix Egg, from Magneto.[1]
Xorn and the X-Men attacked Magneto's HQ, the Atom Institute, and battled Magneto's X-Men. When Quintin Quire bonded with the Phoenix Egg, Xorn attempted to destroy it but was attacked by Magneto. Magneto made the mistake of destroying Xorn's helmet, revealing the miniature star in his head. The battle between Magneto and Xorn ravaged the Atom Institute. Xorn eventually stopped and vanished when he sensed something else inside the Phoenix Egg other than Jean.[2]
What Xorn sensed in the egg was Cassandra Nova. She was in possession of Jean when the egg hatched with Jean bonded with Phoenix Force while the two X-Men teams were busy battling Sublime and his army of beasts.[3]
The battle with Nova led to the Phoenix's death, unleashing a massive explosion that wiped out all of the old X-Men except for Beast, all of the Beasts gathered by Sublime, and many of Magneto's X-Men. Xorn then emerged from the ruins possessed by Jean's spirit and bonded with the Phoenix Force and contemplated about the balance which was restored.[4]Attributes
