History

Kurt Busiek was a member of Marvel staff who worked as the editor of Marvel Age. The contents of the book depended on him obtaining information on the news for each superhero, but Busiek failed to get those details by phone. In particular, Busiek phoned the Beyonder's phone, Xavier School, Dr. Strange's Sanctum, a public phone in Canada to contact Alpha Flight, Loki's personal phone in Asgard, a phone booth near Spider-man, another universe to contact the Squadron Supreme, the Avengers Mansion, the West Coast Avengers Compound, a prehistoric environment inhabited by Devil Dinosaur and Moon Boy (although this was a mistake, as he was trying to find Nelson & Murdock), Nelson & Murdock Law Office, three different phone numbers in an attempt to find Cloak and Dagger, Spector Mansion in Long Island, the Fifth Avenue, the Vision and the Scarlet Witch's home phone in Leonia, Tulaluma's offices of Iron Man, Captain America's hotline, another phone booth to find Power Pack, Sersi's New York apartment and Doc Samson's New Mexico desert base. Editor Jim Salicrup prompted Busiek about the X-Men to write a section called "The Mutant Report", and fellow Marvel staffers Jim Shooter and Glynis Oliver also harassed Busiek. Captain America entered the offices to reprimand Busiek for obstructing his hotline with non-emergency calls; but Captain had been tailed by the fourth Lethal Legion, a team of supervillains aiming to kill him. Captain was joined with several other heroes in a battle royale in Marvel, scaring the Marvel staff (except for the Scourge of the Underworld, undercover as a Marvel staff member) while Salicrup, under a table phoned Virginia Romita to warn that Marvel Age may be delayed.[1]
