History
Kurt Darkhölme was born in Germany during a time of intense hostility between mutants and humans. Due to his clearly mutant appearance, his mother made the difficult choice to remain in hiding with him. Mystique raised Kurt away from the public eye, keeping them both safe.[citation needed]
When Magneto and his mutant family rose to prominence and mutants gained global acceptance, Mystique and Kurt emerged into a changed world. They relocated to America, where Mystique was recruited by Sebastian Shaw to join S.H.I.E.L.D. Kurt was brought up within the organization and began training from a young age to become an agent alongside his mother. He formed close familial bonds with her and his adoptive sister, Rogue, both of whom he deeply cherished.[citation needed]
As a member of Wolverine's elite team, the Red Guard, Kurt played an essential role in their operations. However, his relationship with Wolverine became strained when the man began a romantic relationship with Mystique. Kurt harbored doubts about Wolverine's worthiness and clashed with him frequently.[1]
Following the restructuring of reality into Battleworld, Kurt was a resident of the recreated domain known as the Monarchy of M.[2] For reasons unknown, he was eventually exiled to the Deadlands and met his end at the hands of the undead.[3]Attributes
