History
The man known as "La Barbe" (the beard) was active in Alaska during the 1940's. He had earned the reputation in those parts of being a cold-hearted killer. By 1942, he had begun demanding from miners to turn over their mines or face death. Those who refused to give up their land were usually gunned down in cold blood by La Barbe and his minions.
His activities caught the notice of the hero known as Rockman who came to the surface to stop him. La Barbe managed to knock the hero out with sleeping gas as he was attempting to take over the mine owned by Zeb Sanders. Tying up the hero and the members of the Sanders family, La Barbe left them to die in a burning house. Reviving, Rockman broke free and rescued the Sanders from a fiery death.
Chasing La Barbe into the Sanders mine, Rockman ordered his Abysmians to cause an earthquake. The resulting quake caused part of the mine to cave in, killing La Barbe's minions. Rockman then tossed the killer down a pit to his death.[1]Paraphernalia

Notes
Since it has been revealed that Rockman's Abysmian background is largely a fabrication, his wartime adventures are called into question. If a character named La Barbe truly exists and if his fate is similar to that of Rockman's recollection remains to be revealed.
