History
When he was younger, Laurent looked up to and dreamed of being part of Alpha Flight, picking the codename Argent for himself.[2]
During the Fall of X, Laurent crossed into Ottawa from Gatineau to access the Krakoan Gateways there, but was unable to do so due to Orchis disabling them. Laurent traveled to Toronto only to discover that the Gateways there didn't work either.[2]
Laurent lost control of his powers while defending himself from anti-mutant assailants in Saskatoon and Alpha Flight attempted to apprehend him. He was rescued by Aurora, Northstar, Fang and Nemesis and taken to Krakoa North in Manitoba. While there, Laurent learned from Northstar that they were planning on taking mutant refugees off-world to Chandilar and that Alpha Flight was secretly helping them.[3] While given a checkup by Shaman, Laurent was offered a spot on Alpha Flight but he refused, due to being traumatized from the recent events.[2]
While residing at Krakoa North, Laurent became increasingly restless and homesick. Disillusioned with the mutant cause, Laurent vented his frustrations to Kyle Jinadu, who was worried that Laurent's agitated state could rile the other refugees and urgently sent a message to Northstar to hasten the evacuation to Chandilar.[4]
Laurent eventually got tired of waiting and left Krakoa North during the night. However, Laurent's actions allowed Department H to detect the mutants hiding there. Laurent immediately regretted his decision when he saw Box Sentinels attack Krakoa North.[5] Laurent attempted to rescue his friends and managed to destroy a Sentinel, but was killed by another one commanded by Roger Bochs Jr.. Laruent's death was not in vain, as his sacrifice bought Alpha Flight enough time to rescue all the mutant refugees. Northstar later acquired Laurent's belongings and sent them to Laurent's mother, along with a letter expressing his condolences.[1]
