Laurie Coen took in her nephew Cooper Coen after his parents later evicted him for being a homosexual. Laurie and her wife Mel encouraged Cooper to follow his passions and put him in fashion school, which later led to him receiving a job at the premier fashion house, Van Dyne.[1]
