Synopsis for 1st story
In the past, Peter Quill stood over his mother's grave with a priest named Father James while waiting for his foster parents.
In the present, Star-Lord attempted to steal the Mandalay Gem from the Savage Orphanage in 3M2 Town, but Badoon stole it first and surrounded him before taking him aboard their ship. The Badoon captors informed Star-Lord that a gangster named "Mr. Knife" was paying for his capture. Star-Lord claimed that he did know about Mr. Knife and that he was busy with "really important" things.
Later, Star-Lord, who hid a communication device in his boot, contacted Kitty, but was interrupted when a guard named Thumbnail opened the door of his cage. Star-Lord took advantage of this by attacking him and escaping the cage. When Star-Lord was surrounded by more Badoon, he shot at a wall in their ship, creating a hole into space, allowing him to escape with the Mandalay Gem.
Star-Lord returned to the orphanage with a sack full of money and explained that he was trying to safely remove the gem, so that the orphanage wouldn't be a target.
In the past, when Father James told Peter that he could make the world a better place, the boy told the priest that he wanted to make space a better place and the priest believed that this was just his "wild imagination."
In the present, Star-Lord still had the Mandalay Gem, but gave the last of his emergency money to the orphanage. He planned to confront Thanos in twelve days, but was surrounded by Captain Victoria of the Spartax Royal Guard, who planned to take him into custody. After she also claimed to be the daughter of former Emperor J'son, Star-Lord believed that she could be his sister.
