History

This version of the Legion of the Unliving was assembled by the Grandmaster using either dead super-powered beings (or simulacra of them) to battle against the Avengers during a byzantine scheme by him and his fellow Elders to destroy and recreate the universe as they saw fit. A number of Avengers died during this gambit, adding to the Legion's roster, but ultimately the Elders were defeated by a simple slight-of-hand game played by Hawkeye, after which the deceased Avengers were restored to life.

Notes

• As usual with the lineup of any Legion of the Unliving, their legitimacy is debatable. The Grandmaster's variant has directly been suspected of consisting of simulacra of characters who have since been retroactively revealed as being still alive at the time, as he had previously created a duplicate of Hyperion.
