The Lemurians are a branch of Homo mermanus that migrated to the Pacific Ocean and settled in the ruins of the Deviant city of Lemuria ages after it was sank by the Celestials.
The Lemurians were set apart from their Atlantic relations by the discovery or development of the Serpent Crown, an artifact of ancient power that places the user in mystic contact with Set, an snakelike elder demon. Veneration of this crown and its use in rulership have made the Lemurians' skin greenish and scaly. It has also given them a greater potential to wield magic.

Notes
Under the name "Ancients", it was stated that they were a telepathic elder race whose precise nature and origins had never been discovered by humans nor Atlanteans.[6] The Ancients were confirmed in Leonard McKenzie's entry in Marvel Mystery Handbook 70th Anniversary Special #1 to be the Lemurians.
