History

Leonard Samson was a friend of Bruce Banner (aka Hulk) and scientist at the super-human prison the Cube, designed especially to contain Gamma-based super-power humans.

When a massive breakout happened in all the super-human prisons, he was poisoned by Gamma radiation, giving him super-strength, but also dying his hair green. He was hurt by Zzzax and was left by Hulk in a nearby cafe. His mutation continued, causing him to become the towering, muscular figure he is today.

He later worked as a Super-Human Soldier for the security of the Cube, under the name of "Doc Samson". Despite working under Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, Doc was adamantly against trying to mass-produce mutations like his and the Hulk's, stating you cannot control an accident.
