History

Lloyd Zant was the producer of the Arachno-Man movie, a blatant rip-off of the real-life vigilante Spider-Man. He had also made other blockbuster films such as Mr. America!, The Devil of Hell's Kitchen and The Uncanny Z-Mutants, clearly based on Captain America, Daredevil, and the X-Men, respectively.

During the shooting of a scene in New York, the film's crew was surprised by the arrival of Spider-Man, who chastised them for unashamedly cashing on his image. Zant tried to get Spider-Man to make a deal with him. The hero refused, and when he realized Zant had his men film him, he questioned why. Lloyd told him that with a little CGI tweak, they could use that footage to save roughly 1.2 million dollars on budget. Zant's unscrupulous attitude led Spider-Man to verbally lash out one more time and then leave.[1]

Notes

  • Lloyd Zant is a stand-in for Avi Arad in the Arachno-Man variant of Ultimate Spider-Man #54 only. In the regular edition of #54, Avi Arad's other Marvel film credits are not mentioned and he is simply referred to as an "Academy Award winning producer."
