Los Alamos is a town in Los Alamos County, New Mexico, United States of America.

20th Century

World War II

In 1942, during World War II, the war department began looking for a remote location for the Manhattan Project. The government opened the Los Alamos National Laboratory for the design of nuclear weapons. Famed industrialist genius inventor; Howard Stark was working on the project Red Skull he was abducted long with his then wife, and tortured him to gain information about the Manhattan Project. They were later rescued by Captain America and the Howling Commandos.[1]

Post World War II

Dr. Brian Banner worked in Los Alamos researching nuclear energy, and coming to believe that he had been genetically affected in an accident. During this time, Banner also became an alcoholic and met Thaddeus Ross, whom had a good feeling about Banner.[2]

Frederic Beechman worked as an atomic research scientist at Los Alamos. He lived with his wife Emily Beechman. He was exposed to high levels of radiation along with a cleaning lady Gemma Sinclair during an explosion. One year later his son Jerome Beechman was born covered in hair and Gemma's daughter Nekra Sinclair was born with chalky white skin. Due to his appearance he was treated like an outcast and when he was ten, his father drove him out to the middle of the desert and abandoned him. The boy swore to find his way back and exact revenge on his parents.[3]

The mutant; James Madrox was born in Los Alamos. His mutation was activated from birth when he created his first duplicate when the doctor smacked him on the bottom. Two weeks later, Jamie's father resigned from the Los Alamos Nuclear Research Center and moved his family to an intentionally isolated farm in Lawrenceville, Kansas[4]

Modern Era

Whilst on the run Bruce Banner ended up in Los Alamos where he met Hal Chandler who offered him a room for the night. Hal however recognized Banner and called the U.S. Army converged on the property. Banner became the Hulk and Hal transformed into 3-D Man. The Hulk pounded the military forces as the 3-D Man attempted to protect his family. The Hulk then escaped by leaping away.[5]
