History

Luke Cage's history is presumably similar to his Earth-616 counterpart's. When the Kree devastated Earth through unknown means, Luke was one of the few super-beings to remain on Earth while the other super-beings left to fight the Kree. Many decades later, humans like Luke struggled to survive while the Atlanteans took over the Earth and thrived. The Atlanteans barely helped the humans on the surface, and when King Namor offered underwater colonies to live in, Luke, like many humans, refused to live in the colonies due to distrust of the Atlanteans.

Luke's frustration with the Atlanteans reached the breaking point when the first human child born in two years died in his arms along with their mother. When Namor visited New York City with Captain America, Cage verbally chastised Namor, accusing him and the other Atlanteans of wanting humans to die. Cage then punched Namor, resulting in a fight breaking out between Namor's guards and the citizenry.[2]

The fight ended with the unexpected appearance of the Human Torch. Namor wanted to investigate the Torch's appearance and use him as a possible solution to the human colonies' energy woes. Captain America couldn't accompany Namor, so, Cage did instead. Cage and Namor traveled to the ruins of the Baxter Building and searched a computer for information on the Torch. That was when they were attacked by a crazed Machine Man. After a brief fight, Machine Man revealed that the Torch was planning to wipe both Atlanteans and humans with a robot army and left. Cage and Namor then left for Latveria after learning from the Torch was heading there.[3]

After Cage and Namor arrived in Latveria, they explored the ruins of Castle Doom where they were greeted by Doombots who let them through after recognizing Namor as an ally of Doctor Doom. After entering a vault, they discovered a small group of humans who were capable of reproducing. Cage and Namor were then confronted by Frankenstein's Monster who protected the humans from Atlantean aggression. Cage and Namor were forced to flee after the Monster turned the Doombots against them. They managed to flee outside and were confronted by the Monster who admitted to killing Atlanteans who got too close to Latveria. This led to a brief fight between Namor and the Monster until Namor saved a young human child from drowning, which ended hostilities. After a brief conversation between the two sides, the Human Torch suddenly appeared.[1]

After Cage talked down Namor and the Torch from fighting, the Torch showed Cage, Namor, and Frankenstein's Monster his colony of robots hidden in the Arctic region to prove that he wasn't a threat. After preventing another fight between Namor and the Torch from breaking out, Cage talked with the Monster talked about how the robot colony had changed his world view. Later, Cage and the Monster learned that Machine Man had destroyed an Atlantean colony and had killed Captain America. This led to a misunderstanding between Namor and the Torch, leading to a fight.[4]

Namor almost killed the Torch, but the two eventually stopped fighting. Cage then aided the Torch in defending his colony from Atlantean soldiers ordered to destroy the colony in response to the recent robot attacks. Queen Namorita put a stop to the attack when it was discovered that Attuma was behind the robot attacks and killed. Cage relocated to Latveria to help Frankenstein's Monster, Namor, the Torch, and the robots rebuild society.[5]
