History

According to Carnage, Lucius Marius was a Roman soldier who was the sole survivor of a battle to conquer a city. Delirious with bloodlust, Lucius stormed into the city demanding to be given food, drink, and women. Furious when his demands were ignored, Lucius rampaged through the city until he encountered a strange woman holding a baby.

Lucius' human form

Lucius snatched the infant away from the woman intending to kill it, but to his shock it was revealed to be a symbiote glamoured by the woman, who was a sorceress. As the symbiote engulfed him, Lucius demanded to know what it was, the sorceress telling him it was effectively their child.

Lucius took the sorceress as his lover and lieutenant, and they exited the city. While Lucius claimed a helmet to accentuate his new symbiote, the sorceress used her dark magic to reanimate the surrounding corpses into an undead horde for Lucius to command, leading an undead army to rampage and pillage across Europe.[1]

Paraphernalia

Equipment

As a soldier of the Roman Empire, Lucius was equipped with a suit of armor.

Weapons

As a soldier, Lucius wielded a double-bladed sickle-like weapon. After bonding to the symbiote, he became able to use its fangs, claws, and tendrils in combat.

Notes

  • Due to the tricolor nature of Carnage: Black, White & Blood #1, it is unknown exactly what color Lucius Marius' hair and eyes are.
  • It is unclear whether Lucius Marius and his symbiote actually existed or if they were the products of Cletus' twisted imagination, but if they did then it contradicts the symbiote timeline put forth by King in Black #1.
  • It is implied that Lucius Marius was Cletus Kasady's pre-incarnation and that the sorceress who became his lover was the pre-incarnation of Shriek.[1]
