History
El Gato was a Brujo (medicine man) in Spanish Harlem. When he attempted to collect money from Teresa Mendez, whose mother he had unsuccessfully treated for her heart illness, he came into conflict with Omega the Unknown.[1] After he kidnapped Teresa and attempted to marry her, he was defeated by Omega and Teresa sealed his powers by branding him with his own symbol.[2]
