History

Luke was a Chronicom Hunter who was chiefly involved in the Chronicoms' efforts to enable their takeover of Earth by changing the history of S.H.I.E.L.D.. He was first sent to the year 1931 with Cain and Abel to assassinate Wilfred "Freddy" Malick, a future Head of Hydra and father of Gideon Malick, before Hydra would become the serious threat that S.H.I.E.L.D. would be empowered to fight. To accomplish this, Luke and his comrades stole the faces of the NYPD officers, with Luke personally taking the face of Captain William Dole. Then, posing as these police officers, the Chronicoms infiltrated a campaign event for then-Governor Franklin Delano Roosevelt where Freddy was tending bar. They tried to kill Freddy at this event, but were thwarted by agents of S.H.I.E.L.D who followed the Chronicom Hunters through time.[3]

Despite this setback, Luke and Abel - Cain had since been destroyed by S.H.I.E.L.D. - followed Freddy and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie and Deke Shaw to Hell's Harbor, where Freddy was to deliver a component of the Super Soldier Serum to agents of Hydra. They attempted to kill Malick there, but were again held off by S.H.I.E.L.D. long enough for Freddy make the delivery, starting him on his road towards becoming a Head of Hydra.[4] Luke and Abel retreated to the Chronicom ship, where the Predictor Sibyl told them that other plans were in motion to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. in 1955.[5] When those plans failed, Luke made one more attempt to convince Agent Phil Coulson, then an LMD enhanced with Chronicom technology, to sell out the Earth and its inhabitants to the Chronicoms. When this also failed, Luke approached Wilfred Malick, now an adult and an acting Head of Hydra, to forge a partnership between Hydra and the Chronicoms to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. together.[6]

By 1973, Luke and Malick influenced the S.H.I.E.L.D. of that time period into launching [Project Insight (Earth-19859)
