History
The early life of Luna Maximoff largely reflects that of her Earth-616 counterpart.
Luna was the daughter of mutant superhero Quicksilver and Inhuman princess Crystal. As a child Luna accompanied the Inhuman Royal Family to outer space following the death of Maximus, the Inhumans abandoning the Hidden Land to live among humanity, and Black Bolt secretly releasing the Terrigen Mist into Earth's atmosphere.[1]
When Luna became a young woman, the Inhuman royals journeyed back to Earth so that Luna might be wed to Ahura Boltagon, the Inhuman crown prince. On their journey back, the royal family discovered the remains of a destroyed planet, and the Eternals trapped in Vibranium. When arriving on Earth, they began searching for Reed Richards, to warn him of what they had seen and to gain his aid in tracking down Ahura.[2]
Upon her arrival on Earth, Luna slowly began mutating due to exposure to the Terrigen Mists in Earth's atmosphere. At first, she attempted to hide the symptoms out of fear that she wouldn't be allowed to marry Ahura, but she soon became encased in a cocoon.[3] Luna remained in her cocoon, sleeping through the Skull's failed invasion of New York and the defeat of the Final Host of Celestials, which claimed the life of King Black Bolt. By the time Luna emerged from her cocoon, now transformed into a butterfly-like mutant, the Inhumans had found Ahura. To Luna's horror, the stoic Ahura, who had been raised as the son of King Britain and was the sworn defender of Britain as the Black Knight, had no interest in Luna or his duties as the new king of the Inhumans.[4]
Luna was devastated; however, she would soon turn her affections towards one of King Britain's knights, the Jack of Hearts. She soon fell in love with him, and the two appear to have begun a relationship.[5]
