History

Madrid is the capital and largest city of Spain.

20th century[]

In 1903, Carlos Muerte led a mob which killed Dracula with a stake to his heart. However, later Dracula's grave was robbed and the stake removed from his body, which revived him. Dracula then chases Muerte, however he died again when the sun would rise before he knew it and would disintegrate into dust. Yet, even in death he could still call out to one of his brides to come to Spain from Transylvania. The obedient vampire traveled to Spain with a coffin containing dirt from Transylvania. Placing Dracula's ashes within it, the vampire lord would be restored to life. Muerte would then appear before Dracula and reveal itself to be Death. Death explained that it had considered Dracula to be it's greatest rival because he denied it souls whenever Dracula turned someone into a vampire. However, Death had realized that for whatever reasons it could not take Dracula's soul either and the two decided to make a truce of sorts. Death departed, warning Dracula that although it may not be able to end his existence one day there might come someone who can.[1]

The first time Captain America came to Madrid was at some point during World War II, and he returned later to investigate the new terrorist organization D.A.N.T.E.[2]
