History
When Doom raided Asgard and seized its magic for himself, he claimed the dried up husks of All-Black the Necrosword and Undrjarn. Doom later forged the malleable weapons together, creating a golem resembling the deceased Dark Elf lord Malekith, with All-Black making up the entire right side of his body, and Undrjarn the left side. Whether it was the soul of Malekith himself or something that only believed it was remained unknown.[1] Malekith would go on to become one of Doom's trusted Acolytes who ruled the world in his name.[2] However, most of the Acolytes actually schemed to murder and depose Doom.[1] They were successful in their plan to slay him,[2] but reality now lacked a mystical protector, enabling the monstrosity Annihilus to return, a threat more horrible than Doctor Doom was.
The group that finished Doom did not have the means to stop Annihilus.[1] In an unexpected twist, they were recruited by Kristoff Vernard, who used the Time Platform to summon them over a century into the past, in a reality where Doctor Doom had just recently ascended to power. As the Superior Avengers, these heroes were supposed to be a living testimony of Doctor Doom's successful and benevolent rule.[3] Using the Negative Zone as a safe location to hide from Vernard and Doom, the Superior Avengers designed the Arcane Warhead, a powerful device fueled by magical energy that would enable them to destroy Annihilus in their native timeline.[2]
During a mission to apprehend the criminal fugitive Diablo, the Superior Avengers siphoned his mystic power to energize their device.[2] During their next mission to capture Graviton, the Superior Avengers clashed with the original Avengers of Earth-616. Despite sharing a common goal, the two groups immediately engaged in a battle against each other due to their deeply different approaches.[4] Ghost was mortally wounded in battle by the Vision, revealing she was, unbeknownst to all, one of Doctor Octopus' drones. This prompted the Superior Avengers to abandon their mission and promptly seek out the Ghost to find answers and stop a possible betrayer.[1]
Concluding that she likely exposed their true nature to either Kristoff Vernard or Doom himself, Killmonger decided to provoke present-day Annihilus into attacking Wakanda.[1] The Superior Avengers battled and defeated the Annihilation Wave, after which Killmonger stabbed Vernard with Skybreaker to blame it on Wakanda and draw Doom into a war against it, distracting him from their true objective.[5]
The Arcane Warhead was fully charged, but before it could be brought to their future, Abomination revealed he had been possessed by future Annihilus and destroyed it.[5] The mutated Annihilus began wrecking havoc on Castle Doom. Emperor Doom soon arrived and split Malekith to get hold of All-Black and Undrjarn, handing the latter to Kristoff. Vernard asked whether Malekith was still aware, but Doom only replied that the question was insignificant. Doom used All-Black to crush Onslaught's head, killing him, while Vernard used Undrjarn to cut off Abomination's head and separate Annihilus from him. After Annihilus was killed, Doom gave the Necrosword to Kristoff as well. Equipped with both All-Black and Undrjarn, Kristoff went to hunt down Annihilus in order to ensure he didn't become a threat to Doom in the future.[6]See Also
