History

Early Life[]

Mallory was born in Colorado with cerebral palsy. Due to her condition she was treated like a charity case by most people but despite this she had an inner drive that drove her to overcome her difficulties. She moved to New York City and enrolled in New York University and got a master degree in journalism and even won a Hearst Award for her work.[2]

Legacy[]

While at Penn Station she run into a distracted young man and started arguing with him before a member of the Blasphemy Cartel burst in the station and blasted her and other passers-by with the power he had stolen from the deceased Robert Reynolds.[3]

Months later Mallory was working as a clickbait journalist because her boss thought she would be health-and-safety liability as an investigative journalist. After a particularly hard day she got home and discovered that she had become a superhuman after accidentally destroying her apartment and the entire building. She flew away terrorized and landed on the Moon.[2]

She was reached on the moon by Ryan Topper, a young man who had also been enhanced by the Sentry's power who told her the origin of their newfound abilities and urged her to embrace them. Deciding that she should not be afraid of her powers she returned to Earth to help people and helped some migrants lost in the Mediterranean Sea but noticed that despite her newfound abilities she still had her spasms.[4]

Saddened by her condition she returned home but upon hearing her parents' desperation she flew to Honduras to help during a flood but lost once again control of her powers. She returned home once again where she was found by Jessica Jones who reassured and accepted to help her tell her parents that she was still alive but the two were intercepted by Topper, now mad with power and calling himself Ryan Sentry.[3]

Ryan quickly proved to be unstable and attacked Jessica Jones before going on a rant about other heroes always trying to contain the Sentry's powers. Mallory tried to calm him down but Ryan attacked her, ending up blasting a building full of civilians and attacking her again while busy rescuing the victims. Jessica rejoined the battle and they kept him occupied until the spirits of Ryan's other victims contacted Mallory and together they managed to trick Ryan into getting too close so that Mallory could absorb them and give them new bodies so that they could join forces and overpower and drain all of Ryan's power into Mallory before disappearing. Mallory surrendered to Misty Knight and the Aberrant Crimes Division but was surprised by her parents who had found out that she was still alive. She told them that she believed that everything that had happened was her fault but they dismissed her fears and told her that they loved her and accepted her.[1]

Two weeks later she was in the headquarters of the A.C.D. with her former flatmate where they found Misty Knight who told her that she had misjudged her and that Mallory had more in common with her than with Robert Reynolds and that she had decided to train her as the new Sentry to which she replied that if she wanted to be a hero she needed to forge her own path and announced her new identity as "Solarus".[1]
