History
During the year 1849 Man-To was a Native American warrior from the Blackfeet tribe who came to the aid of a caravan of settlers who had been attacked by the Comanches. Among the settlers there was Malcom Lyons, Lyons' wife, and their son James. The day after the assault, Malcom spoke to his wife, telling her about the mysterious warrior who had saved their lives, and since the warrior had his face painted black he called him the "Black Marvel."[1]
Many years later Man-To was on his death bed and was looking for a replacement to become the Black Marvel before he passed on. He narrowed it down to three members of his tribe but they couldn't past the test. Dan Lyons grateful to Man-To and the Blackfeet for saving his father James rode down to their camp and offered to try his hand at becoming the new Black Marvel to help repay their kindness. After successfully completing the tasks set forth which included: running faster than a deer, swimming upstream faster than salmon, firing multiple bullseyes blind-folded, and killing a grizzly bear with his bare hands; Daniel was bestowed the mantle of the Black Marvel. Man-To described that with the title brought responsibilities such as clean living such is the credo for the Blackfeet, righting any wrongs Dan were to bare witness to, and finally to destroy enemies of mankind that would prey on the helpless. Soon after Man-To would die and the Blackfeet would mourn his passing. [1]See Also
