History
Mar-Vell's history was similar to that of her Earth-199999 counterpart until 1988 where a mysterious child named Peter Quill arrived on Earth from space and caused havoc in New York. She was then recruited by her superiors at S.H.I.E.L.D. to become part of a new team of heroes who could fight against this cosmic threat. As Dr. Wendy Laweson, she used her Kree ship to fly the newly formed team to Coney Island where Ant-Man, Giant Man, and Black Panther attempted to contain the child while she searched his ship for information. The ship then self-destructed, causing Giant Man to catch a falling Lawson. The team was able to capture the Quill with the unexpected help of Thor Odinson, the God of Thunder.
Thor then taught them all the truth of how Quill was unwillingly carrying out his father's plan of universal expansion of his powers. They realized that Peter and Hank's daughter Hope had bonded and that she had freed him from his specialized cage so that he could travel to Missouri to visit his mother's grave. Lawson then took Hank to Missouri in order to get Peter back to help them. Lawson wanted to attack the boy and bring him back but Hank was able to talk Peter down and convince him to go against his father. They brought him back just in time for Peter to save an overwhelmed Avengers and destroy his father's corporeal form.
The team celebrated their victory and Mar-Vell ended up gifting her pet cat/Flerken, Goose to Peter and Hope. After celebrating, Mar-Vell and the rest of the Avengers decided to join Thor on his quest to destroy Ego's planet and avenge those that had been destroyed by him.[1]
