Quote1 You got everything you ever wanted, Steve Rogers. If the world didn't turn out how you thought it would... well, that's just life. Quote2

Margaret Carter (Earth-58163) from Captain America Vol 5 10 003
Margaret "Peggy" Carter was a spy, who fought with the French Resistance during World War II. While fighting with the resistance, she fell met and fell in love with Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America.

After the war, the two married. While Steve went into semi-retirement, Peggy became an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Peggy was frequently embarrassed by her husband's liberal attitude toward mutants, as her agency was engaged in operations against mutantkind. By 1957, after almost twelve years of marriage, Peggy had had enough and the two were divorced.

She did not attend the funeral of her fellow agent Bucky Barnes.

By the modern era, dominated by the mutant Magneto, Peggy had seemingly passed away. However, she still remained on her ex-husband's mind, who thought of her frequently.[1]
