—Captain Carter[source]There was a superstition back during my days in the war, that victory was its own sort of curse. Because every battle you won, every inch you gained, would mean you're only getting further from home.
In a world diverged from Earth-199999 where the saboteur who attacked the Project Rebirth facility before Steve Rogers was upgraded, Margaret "Peggy" Carter decided to go through the process and become the first Super Soldier: Captain Carter.[3]
History
Super Soldier[]

During the launch of Project Rebirth Dr. Abraham Erskine offered Agent Carter to proceeded to the viewing booth, but she elected to stay in the room for the procedure, leading to other men present for observation doing the same. This caused Nazi spy Heinz Kruger to detonate his explosive device earlier, before Steve Rogers' procedure was finished. Kruger managed to kill both Doctor Erskine and the SSR head Colonel Phillips, while also wounding Rogers. Kruger then tried to escape with a vial of Super-Soldier Serum, but Agent Carter shot and killed him. Colonel Flynn tried to salvage the project by having Howard Stark go inside the Vita-Ray Chamber, but he refused and with no time remaining, Peggy jumped in instead to undergo the procedure herself.[3]

She emerged as the world's first Super Soldier, but Flynn, the new head of the SSR, saw Carter as a disappointment, whom he dismissed out of belief that women couldn't be soldiers and refused to send her into the field. Stark and Carter asked Flynn to authorize a mission to recover the Tesseract from Hydra, which was denied to them. Going behind Flynn's back, Stark made a uniform and a Vibranium shield for Peggy, who as "Captain Carter" went on a mission herself. In the middle of Berlin, she single-handedly stopped a Hydra convoy, captured Hydra scientist Arnim Zola and retrieved the Tesseract, bringing it and Zola back to the USA. Stark then used the Tesseract to power his latest invention - the Hydra Stomper Armor, piloted by Steve Rogers, who had began forming a close friendship with Peggy.[3]

Learning that Rogers' friend Bucky Barnes had been captured, Peggy set out to rescue him from an Austrian Hydra facility. Easily dispatching the guards, she found and liberated Barnes and the other prisoners, leading them away from the prison grounds where they were intercepted by a tank detachment. Rogers arrived from the air in the Hydra Stomper Armor to provide support for Peggy, and the two of them destroyed the enemy forces together. Barnes and a few other liberated POWs formed the Howling Commandos, a unit that assisted Captain Carter and Hydra Stomper in many SSR operations throughout the rest of the war.[3]
Last mission with Steve[]

Near the end of the war, Captain Carter, Hydra Stomper and the Howling Commandos went on a mission to capture Hydra leader Johann Schmidt. Bucky almost fell during the boarding of Hydra train, but was saved by Carter, who grabbed with with enough strength to almost rip his arm off. However, they were lured into a trap and the train exploded, seemingly burying Steve and the Hydra Stomper Armor under an avalanche of snow. Grieving, Carter interrogated Doctor Zola about Schmidt's base at Castle de Krake and led the Howling Commandos on a final decisive strike against Hydra. Inside, she and Stark separated from Howling Commandos and came across Red Skull, who had constructed an interdimensional gateway to summon Hydra's "true champion" from beyond the stars. Schmidt used the Tesseract to activate it, and massive tentacled monster emerged from the portal, only to immediately grab Schmidt and crush him to death.[3]

Carter ordered Stark to close the portal, while she held the monster off with her shield and a sword she grabbed from the wall. Meanwhile, the Howling Commandos found the captured Rogers alive and put him back inside the Hydra Stomper Armor. Steve then rushed to help Peggy, who was overjoyed to see him alive and well. The monster began destroying the entire castle, and Carter ordered Rogers to get the Howling Commandos out of the collapsing structure. Stark was unable to close the portal because the creature held it open and Peggy decided to sacrifice herself to push it back inside. Rogers returned just in time to have a final goodbye with Peggy, who went inside the portal, enabling Stark to close it for good.[3]
Almost seventy years later, the Tesseract was activated by S.H.I.E.L.D. at the Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. Facility. When a portal opened, Peggy popped out and was met by Hawkeye was with Nick Fury, who asked her to put her sword down. Hawkeye instantly recognized her as the Captain Carter, after which Fury told her that World War II had ended in victory many decades ago.[3]
Guarding the Multiverse[]
A couple years later, once Peggy had gotten more adjusted to her new time period, she joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and led the S.T.R.I.K.E. team along with Black Widow on an extraction mission on the Lemurian Star, a ship that had been raided by French pirate Georges Batroc. Batroc and the Captain fought for a bit before being interrupted by The Watcher. He told her that she had been chosen for something. She was then teleported to a bar that was outside of Space and Time alongside Killmonger, Thor, Star-Lord T'Challa, Gamora, and Doctor Strange. All from various universes, they were brought together by the Watcher to try and defeat an Ultron variant that had control of the Infinity Stones. They all agreed to form the Guardians of the Multiverse and were sent to an uninhabited planet in order to plan an attack on the machine., but were interrupted by Ultron who finally found them. He launched an attack on them and presumed he had quickly won but they quickly fought back with the help of Doctor Strange's protection spell. Captain Carter and the others were then teleported to Earth where they met a Black Widow who Peggy convinced that they were allies and so she joined the team and the fight against Ultron.
Everyone fought courageously against the sentient AI and were able to subdue him enough for Gamora to use the Infinity Crusher on the stones he had possessed but it proved to be useless since the Crusher was designed to destroy the stones from Gamora's world, not Ultron's. The team continued to try and take Infinity Ultron down and were about to be overpowered until Nat and Peggy coordinated a sneak attack on Ultron and were able to insert a virus into him via arrow. Due to the virus being analog, they were able to finally destroy Ultron's AI. Their victory, however, was short lived because Killmonger had decided to take Ultron's suit and Infinity Stones for himself. But the sentient virus Arnim Zola had taken control of Ultron's body and tried to take the stones back, leading to Strange realizing that he could lock them both in permanent status, shrink them down into a pocket dimension, and contain the chaos forever.
Once the battle was over and the Multiverse was saved for the time being, Peggy along with everyone else returned home to their worlds. Upon her return, she had been punched out by Batroc but he was tazed unconscious by her universe's native Black Widow. Nat told Peggy that she had discovered what the pirates were after and showed her a shipping container with the Hydra Stomper inside, telling Peggy that Steve was still alive inside of the suit, much to her joyful surprise.[4]Paraphernalia
