History
The early life and history of Mari mirrors that of her Earth-616 counterpart.
At some point after the mutation of humanity, the Microverse came under siege by Psycho-Man who used his Emotocaster on a planetary scale. Mari was among the many who were affected and would be made to violently attack and try to kill whoever they saw. Mari would end up killing her husband, Arcturus Rann. With Rann dead, and the Enigma Force ending up in the Realm of the Dead as well, the Microverse would begin to crumble and fall apart.[2]
The surviving members of the Microns would soon learn that they only attacked those they saw, and would fight back-to-back to try and escape in their cable car. They would escape just as the Man-Thing was drawn to the Prometheus Pit by the fear radiating from the Microverse. He used his tendrils to burn the Microverse, preventing the madness within from making its way to the outside world.[2]
Man-Thing would die in this process, serving as a plug for the Pit. Mari would mutate further, becoming a being comprised of light and adjustable size. She and the remaining survivors would become known as the Ant Men.[3] Despite his death, Mari maintained a connection to Arcturus, and was able to communicate with him.[2]
When Mar-Vell and his followers traveled to HEL Laboratories to recover the Emotocaster from the Prometheus Pit, the Ant Men would be freed. Mari and the others would be assigned to watch over Immortus, and made an effort to try and talk sense into him as he was being manipulated by Mr. Church (who was really Mephisto). Mari and the others would later be seen at the wedding of Medusa and King Britain.[2] [4]See Also
